Nice, clean and secure, but can't say much else good after the rebrand. It's already overpriced compared to equivalent units in other places, and they still doubled mine and my grandparents' rates in the first few months. Charge another $15 minimum for "insurance", too. Carts can be hard to find, and it can be difficult to get parking near doors. Management/staffing has been difficult. They often don't answer the phone during posted business hours, even for emergencies. The "District team lead" is very rude, aggressive, and difficult. So much so that even the other (great btw!) employees complain about her. The worst is payment. They conveniently don't notify you your payment didn't go through until it's 7 days late, you're overlocked, owe them late fees, and are permanently disallowed from paying with anything other than cash. Predatory and unfair, go to a different company.
Overpriced and underserviced! Staff contradict each other! The "female" needs serious customer service training! Particularly addressing her sarcastic, snotty, communications! I was a customer for about nine months, the electronic doors nearest my unit (about 40 feet away) were "Out of Order" for the 1st six months of my occupancy! I had to trek accross the full width of the building, navigating hallways at about 200 feet and each time I asked about the "broken" door, I was told it was pending a repair quote/tech... For 6 Months! The so called "Available Carts" are rarely available. I am a 62 year old man, no spring chicken! That extra distance MATTERS! To add to an already frustrating set of conditions, then they jack-up the monthly rate ALOT with barely 30 days notice and say it is to keep up with market prices! All in all, I have had storage rentals most of my adult life and this Bayport location is in the top three worst experiences I have ever had!!!
Very disappointed with this facility. They get you in with a discounted rate and in 3 months almost double your cost. I had a 10x10 and was paying $94 a month after initial 144.64 move in on 8/30. 12/30 rolls around and it goes to $174 per month! For a 10x10!!!!! They tell you they mail you a flyer noting the price increase. I never received it and they do not care and will not negotiate with you. Most people will just eat it so they don't have to move their stuff again. Not this girl! We finally got all of our stuff moved out yesterday and I will never recommend this facility to anyone. It is a bait and switch which is complete BS.
James Thompson was excellent and professional with assisting me. I can tell he’s a great person and take his job seriously. I feel he should get a raise and promotion.
We closed our account on Saturday, Sept. 28th with confirmation in hand. Since the office is closed Sundays, the system bumped the move-out date to Monday, Sept. 29th—which we never agreed to. We returned the lock and key on the 28th (our billing cycle end date) and called the next morning to confirm the account was settled. Later that evening, I received a call from a worker (Diana) who was immediately rude, dismissive, and threatening. She claimed we now owed a full month’s rent ($151) because the system showed 9/29 as the move-out date. When I questioned why my online confirmation clearly was able to select 9/28, she refused to listen and simply repeated “collections” over and over. My husband then called and got the same hostile treatment. She refused to speak to him unless he three-wayed me in to “authorize” him, even though he’s a registered account contact (which we later confirmed). Once she finally spoke to him, she suddenly offered that we could pay for just one day — but only in cash. That option was never offered to me, and a “cash only” requirement for a corporate storage facility is beyond questionable. When my husband went in person to the Seabrook location to settle this, he overheard Diana’s boyfriend sitting in the office, insulting us out loud with profanity (“those disrespectful motherfers”) while she laughed and agreed.* Completely unprofessional and unacceptable conduct. And the final proof of their dishonesty? The receipt they gave us shows the close date as 9/27. Meaning we were right all along, and all the harassment, collections threats, and cash-only demands were completely fabricated. This is one of the most unprofessional and shady business experiences we have ever had. From fabricated billing to harassment and profanity in front of customers, this location is an embarrassment to the Extra Space brand. Consumers beware: Do not trust this facility. They will manipulate dates, threaten you with collections, and treat you with open disrespect. Take your business anywhere else.
