When my daughter graduated in May from her College, we had to scramble to find a storage unit that was within reasonable distance, safe area, and affordable. I was glad U-Haul was sold out of the unit size we needed and I was fortunate to find and secure a unit at Extra Space Storage. Upon entering, Mr. Muhammad was pleasant and welcoming. He explained what I needed to know about the storage unit, showed me where it was located, and how to connect my phone so I can open the door. The storage unit was a great deal! We were pressed for time but with Mr. Muhammad’s assistance, we were able to get things done and catch our flight. Highly recommended for your storing needs!

I utilized Extra Space in another state and had a wonderful experience so when I moved here I thought I would use the same company. Unfortunately this has been a horrible experience since day 1. This is absolutely the worst storage facility. The online rate is I’ll almost immediately be doubled and the facility itself is dirty and the exterior door is routinely broken with bolts hanging off. When I reported it I was told they already knew and that it’s just old. There are times the door just won’t open at all, or won’t close and lock. It’s so bad. I made the decision to move out and had to extend my move out date. I paid the prorated rate that was agreed to, but apparently the representative who took the payment over the phone never applied it to the account. It locked me out of being able to access the electronic door, and they also locked my storage unit. When I called the customer service number I was told they could see where both the phone call and the payment were made, but that it was not applied to the account and only the store manager or district manager can correct it and allow me back in to my unit. But no one can reach either the store manager or district manager. The customer service call center is completely unwilling to help and I’m being told I have to wait 24-48 hours for any assistance, despite needing to move out within that time frame. Now I am being forced to pay a full additional month’s rent, plus late fees, if I want access to my belongings. Do not use this facility.

The whole process of getting a unit was so easy. I called about a unit early in the morning and the customer service agent set me up with a reservation. Later that day the manager of the facility called to let me know I could take a look. When I arrived, Muhammad kindly showed me the available units and patiently talked me through the payment options. It was a great experience from beginning to end. And I am very happy with our new storage!

I do not recommend using Extra Space in Dedham. The customer service and ease of setting up an account was great. From there, it was all downhill. About a month into our rental, our storage unit was broken into, things were stolen, and a lock was changed on one of the two doors. I was abysmally disappointed with how they handled it and their lack of caring- cameras apparently only cover entry and exit points- meanwhile they say it’s too expensive to have more cameras but charge $330+ for a small unit… They couldn’t care less about the robbery and said that they could do nothing about it and to just call the insurance people. Typical abysmal lack of security and attention to detail in the 21st century at its best.

Love this location. Have been doing business with them for over 6 years now. Staff is always super friendly and helpful, communication is responsive and focused on support. Today I had the pleasure of working with Tamara, who was able to help organize and navigate my chaotic nature. Thank you for the consistency over the years!
